How does the Narrative engage the audience?
The trailer engages the audience as the camera shot follows the characters throughout the entire clip (It doesn’t stop once, it just keeps switching characters subtly). The camera is also used to show who the main characters are by following them and giving Close up/Medium shots of the characters but even when it is doing this it doesn’t stop moving around. The camera also gives a brief insight into how they act around certain people (Facial expression and what they say).
How are women represented in the opening of Boogie Nights?
Women are represented as easy going, laid back and they seem easy as the character that is followed at the start seems to instantly start flirting with her (He kisses her cheek and makes a joke). The women are also shown as objectified by the male characters although they still hold dominance over each other as when the waitress approaches the female character sitting down at the table she tells her to go rather than making he wait for her to order something. The women may also be using the men as an a addition to the power/control/authority.
Good use of explaining camera shots/angles and analysis of how women appear to men, to improve you could try and include more media language & theories :)
