From 1:50 to 1:58 it builds tension and anticipation very well as it has the sudden boom of the background ambience as well as the large text saying “On the courage of two men”, it also manages to create the atmosphere usually associated with a film like this (Quick paced once it has gotten into the story, ambitious goals by the ‘Heroes’ etc).
The music also changes the mood instantly as once it reaches the scene where the character says “We’re gonna run this bitch down” the music suddenly changes into a louder and faster paced soundtrack showing that it is going to get tense at some part during the film.
Although the main aspect is primarily “A train is going fast, Oh my god how do we stop it?” the trailer manages to even out the confusion of whether it is an action based thriller or not by adding scenes where they have people being lowered from helicopters and police cars being flipped which would be mainly seen in an action film, this changes the genre of the film a little as at first glance it is not as action packed as it seems.
^^ This scene shows that there may be some sort of death or near death scene that attempts to create a sense of emotion as the character displays the fact that they may or may not die, this is a key aspect in films like this as without this sort of scene the whole film would fail to create that feel of tension or at least it would fail to add to it in a way that gets the viewer to be tense and hoping that something good happens.
The trailer also manages to add a few lines that creates a sense of tension and anticipation by saying “We’re gonna be coming in too hot” and “The train seems to be increasing in speed” which means that it is most likely going to end up with a climax where something drastic happens and the characters nearly die.
The scene with the train derailing and exploding shows that the movie will have some parts where action is its primary base and as such it will try to appeal to the stereotypical image of action (Explosions, fast paced things etc), this could make the film appeal to more people or it could make it more obvious at least about what sort of genre this film is.
The ending of the trailer ends up with a cliff hanger which could potentially make people want to go and watch this movie in the cinema or at home, it also shows that this films will indeed have some scenes with close calls and it will also include scenes that make you sit on the edge of your seat hoping that they survive or something similar.
The editing of this movie trailer towards the end is quick and fast paced and as such they have taken parts out that would drag it on and instead replace them with scenes that are directly one after the other. The editing is also shown when the trailer just suddenly switches from a slower scene into a faster and more dramatic scene which is usually a common trait for action/thriller movie trailers showing that the producers are attempting to get this film to fit the traditional stereotypes of a film in this genre.
I would've done more but I feel ill so I'm going to bed.
